Xiaomi has unveiled the highly affordable Redmi A3 smartphone, which is aimed at budget-conscious consumers.
Latest Android 14
With a leather-like finish on the back, the device has a large display with a smooth 90Hz refresh rate. The Redmi A3 runs the latest Android 14 platform, which marks a departure from its predecessors’ Android 13 Go edition.
Helio G36 Chipset
The Helio G36 chipset powers the Redmi A3, as it did its predecessor, the A2. However, Xiaomi has expanded the RAM options to include 3 GB, 4 GB, and 6 GB configurations, with the latter being a new addition to the lineup.
This extra RAM enables the Redmi A3 to run the regular version of Android 14 rather than the Go variant for low-cost phones.
Redmi A3 Screen Features
The Redmi A3 features a large 6.71-inch LCD with 720p resolution. Notable features include a fast 90Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
To compensate for the lack of an under-display fingerprint scanner, Xiaomi integrated the sensor into the side-mounted power key. Additionally, the display features a waterdrop notch that houses the 5MP selfie camera.
Camera Performance
The device’s rear features a circular camera module with two lenses. While an 8MP primary shooter is prominently displayed, details about the secondary snapper are omitted from the official specs sheet. An LED flash completes the camera setup.
Battery Specs
The Redmi A3 is powered by a 5,000 mAh battery, which provides ample endurance for extended use. The USB-C port allows for convenient charging and supports 10W charging speeds.
Notably, Xiaomi keeps the popular 3.5 mm audio jack, catering to users who prefer traditional wired audio solutions. The Redmi A3 is available in Olive Green, Midnight Black, and Lake Blue, with a starting price of only $87 in India.
