The Punjab government has announced a public holiday across the province on 4 February on the occasion of Shab e Barat. The purpose of this decision is to facilitate the public in observing religious عبادات and rituals. Government operations across the province will remain suspended on this day.

Under this public holiday all government offices autonomous and semi autonomous bodies and local councils in Punjab will remain closed. Citizens have been advised to plan their important official work either before or after the holiday to avoid inconvenience.
Schedule of Educational Institutions
All government schools colleges and universities across Punjab will remain closed on 4 February. Private educational institutions may decide their schedule according to their own policy therefore students and parents are advised to confirm from their respective institutions.
Private Offices and Banks
Private offices banks and commercial institutions usually operate according to their internal policies. Some institutions may remain completely closed while others may function with limited working hours on this day.
Message for the Public
The public has been requested to maintain peace law and order and cleanliness on the occasion of Shab e Barat. Along with religious observance it is the collective responsibility of everyone to uphold discipline and tolerance in society.
