The highly anticipated Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 8 championship game will now take place on March 18 (Saturday), as opposed to the initially scheduled date of March 19 (Sunday), according to an announcement made on Thursday by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
The decision was made “keeping in view bad weather over the coming days.” PCB stated in a press release.
“Sunday and Monday will be treated as reserve days just in case the match cannot be played or completed on Saturday,” the statement added.
Najam Sethi Statement on PSL 8 Final Match
PCB Management Committee Chairman Najam Sethi said, “PSL 8 is our marquee event. All the teams aim and prepare the whole year to not only feature in the final but to lift the Supernova Trophy, while the passionate cricket fans also wait anxiously to see their favorite team being crowned as the champion.
Rain looms over the HBL PSL 8 Final. @TheRealPCB and Franchises are anxious that the Final should not be disrupted. Therefore, we have decided to reschedule the HBL PSL Final from 19 Mar ’23 to Saturday, 18 Mar ’23. Tickets already purchased for the Final will remain valid.

“As such, and on the basis of available information about the bad weather forecast, it is a sensible and proactive approach that we use the off-day and play the final on Saturday, and utilize Sunday along with Monday as reserve days. This will give us two reserve days in case the match cannot be completed or played on Saturday instead of the traditional one day.”
Najam Sethi added that the clubs competing in the playoffs have spoken with the PCB and “they are not only aligned with our decision but have backed and supported” it.
He added that the postponing would not bother cricket fans because tickets purchased for Sunday’s game would still be valid for Saturday’s rescheduled final.
