Proton is another struggling automaker. Bookings for the company have reportedly been on hold for several weeks due to a lack of inventory.
Proton removed the car prices
Import restrictions imposed by the government as a result of the ongoing economic crisis have wreaked havoc on the automobile industry.
Several automakers are experiencing intermittent production shutdowns, which is affecting their sales. Bookings for the company have reportedly been on hold for several weeks due to a lack of inventory.
As Pakwheels recently pointed out, Proton has also removed the car prices from its official website. This indicates that the company is preparing to reopen bookings at new prices.
In a recent conversation with ProPakistani, a representative from an Al-Haj dealership in Islamabad stated that the company will most likely begin taking bookings for its cars at new prices soon. He added, without specifying a specific date, that bookings will most likely resume in mid-to-late June.
Proton remains a strong contender among new car manufacturers in Pakistan due to its intriguing lineup, which includes:
- X70 — A luxury SUV in the C-segment that competes with the Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage.
- Saga — A subcompact A-segment sedan that competes with the Suzuki Swift, Cultus, and Kia Picanto.
The X70 has recently gained popularity among Pakistani buyers, but economic issues have slowed its progress.
In comparison to its competitors, Proton Saga has a lot of ground to make up in terms of sales and popularity. Time will tell if Proton can pull off such feats, especially with the impending price increases.
