In the event that their demands are not satisfied, the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) on Thursday declared a statewide petrol pumps strike for July 18, 2022. According to news sources, protest banners were put up in Lahore’s gas stations. The PPDA requests an increase in profit margin and the minimum pay of Rs. 25,000.
The profit margin for the dealers has also decreased due to the increase in power prices. Long power shedding periods have increased the price of generators, thus reducing the margin. Therefore, the chairman of the PPDA proposes a minimum dealers’ commission of 6%.
The prolonged monsoon season is another significant element that has raised the price of gas stations. The delivery of gasoline in Karachi has ceased as a result of the torrential rains. The stagnant rains in Karachi have obstructed the Keamari, Korangi, and Port Qasim oil installation regions.
Since Sunday, July 10th, 6,000 empty oil tankers have been waiting to be filled due to this inadequate water drainage.
The problem has had a direct impact on the availability of gasoline in Karachi and other parts of the nation. In order to prevent a shortage of petroleum in the nation, the chairman of the PPDA has requested that oil installation locations be urgently drained.
