The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has expected severe rainfall and thunderstorms in the higher portions of the country for next week so far, which would help to relieve the scorching.
According to a press statement, a westerly wave will hit the upper sections of the country on Thursday, May 19th, and will last until Tuesday, May 24th. It can rain in certain areas of Pakistan these days.
In Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, and Haripur, rains with dust and thunderstorms are forecast.
Peshawar, Swabi, Nowshera, Kurram, Kohat, Waziristan, Bannu, Mianwali, Sargodha, Khushab, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Jhang, and Toba Tek Singh are also expecting rainfall and thunderstorms in forecasted days.
Similarly, heavy rainfalls are forecasted in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan (Astore, Ghizer, Gilgit, Diamir, Hunza, and Skardu), especially in the afternoons, evenings, and nights.
In most regions of the country, temperatures are expected to drop during the forecasted rainfall period, according to the Met Office. Water stress on reservoirs, crops, vegetables, and orchards, on the other hand, is likely to persist.
