On Saturday, Pakistani mountaineers Sirbaz Khan and Shehroze Kashif summited Nepal’s Mount Makalu, becoming Shehroze the world’s youngest climber to summit five of the world’s highest peaks.
Shehroze, a 20-year-old from Lahore, and Sirbaz, a Gilgit resident, have each submitted seven and eleven eight-thousanders.
Shehroze has summited three of the summits in just 23 days, according to the Pakistan Alpine Club, while Sarbaz has established the national record for summiting the most number of peaks above 8,000 meters.
Mount Makalu is the world’s fifth tallest mountain, standing at 8,485 meters.
According to a Facebook post by the Alpine Club of Pakistan, Shehroze summited the peak just before 7 a.m., and Sirbaz followed shortly after at 8 a.m. (local time).
Kashif scaled the pinnacle of Makalu Mountain, which is reportedly at an elevation of 8,485 meters, at 6:56 a.m., according to Alpine Club of Pakistan Secretary Karrar Haidri (PST).
Kashif just climbed to the summit of five of the world’s tallest peaks, making him the world’s youngest climber.
He has also become the first 20-year-old Pakistani mountaineer and the youngest to summit three eight-thousanders in less than 23 days.
