Dengue cases are once again on the rise in Pakistan, with the country reporting 2,795 new cases in the last week citing NIH sources.

According to sources at the National Institute of Health (NIH), dengue cases in Pakistan are rapidly increasing as temperatures rise.
1,728 Dengue Cases Reported
Balochistan remained the most affected province, with 1,728 dengue cases reported over the past week. Punjab, 916, Sindh, 116, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reported 34 dengue cases.
Azad Jammu and Kashmir recorded a single dengue case, while no cases of the virus were reported in Gilgit Baltistan or Islamabad in the last week.
Transmission of Viral Disease
Dengue fever is a viral disease transmitted by mosquitos that has spread rapidly throughout the world in recent years. Dengue is spread by female mosquitos, primarily Aedes aegypti and, to a lesser extent, Aedes albopictus.
Signs of Dengue
Dengue must be believed while a high fever (40°C/104°F) follows by two of these signs during the shivering period:
- Severe headache
- Pain behind the eyes
- Muscle and joint pains
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Swollen glands
- Rash
