In a meeting, Pakistan Senate talked about why ‘X‘ isn’t allowed anymore. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said all social media apps are okay, except ‘X’. Senator Barrister Ali Zafar led the meeting and asked the Ministry of Interior about the ban. They gave an answer to the Islamabad High Court about why they banned ‘X’.
Minister Tarar said Facebook, TikTok, Snapchat, and LinkedIn are okay for everyone to use. People can share lots of things on these apps. The Senate wants to make sure everyone can talk freely, like the constitution says.
Senator Zafar wants the Information Ministry and others to work together. They want to make sure news is right and fix any problems people have. Senator Irfan Siddiqui worries about wrong news on social media.
Senator Jam Muhammad wants a plan to stop wrong news, lies, and bad news that hurt Pakistan image. Senator Pervez Rasheed doesn’t like vulgar words and lies on social media. They talked about crimes online and making a group to protect digital rights.
Minister Tarar also talked about paying media bills and helping journalists. They want to give health insurance to 5,000 journalists in Islamabad first. Later, 30,000 all over Pakistan will get it. They talked about fixing how newspapers are counted and government media.
The meeting ended with news about the Pakistan-China Friendship Center’s new digital place and TV in Pakistan. They talked about making money from TV and showing good programs. They want TV shows to match our culture and religion. They also talked about new rules for media and protecting journalists.
