Mobile package prices in Pakistan have gone up sharply. Jazz, Zong, Ufone, and Telenor have all raised their call and data bundle rates, with some packages now costing up to 33% more than they did a year ago. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) approved these changes and has published updated tariff sheets so users can see exactly what they are paying now.

How Much Have Mobile Package Prices Gone Up?

The increases affect every type of bundle, from a single day to a full month. Here is a quick breakdown of the biggest jumps:

  • Monthly hybrid bundles (calls + data): up by as much as Rs500
  • 15-day hybrid bundles: up by as much as Rs300
  • Weekly hybrid bundles: up by as much as Rs130
  • 3-day bundles: up by as much as Rs21
  • 2-day bundles: up by as much as Rs20
  • 1-day hybrid bundles: up by as much as Rs5

Across the board, annual price increases range from 19% to 33%, according to PTA data. The steepest jumps are on the longer-duration packages that most subscribers rely on every month.

Why Are Mobile Package Prices Rising?

Telecom companies have pointed to rising operational costs as the main driver. Running mobile networks in Pakistan involves heavy spending on spectrum fees, network equipment (mostly imported and priced in dollars), fuel for towers, and staff. As the rupee weakened over the past two years, these costs went up in rupee terms, and operators have passed a share of that on to consumers.

It is also worth noting that Pakistan’s mobile data prices had been among the lowest in the region for many years, meaning some catch-up was likely unavoidable. Still, for millions of prepaid users who stretch a weekly bundle as far as it will go, even Rs130 extra per week adds up to over Rs500 a month in new spending.

What PTA Has Done to Control Future Mobile Package Price Hikes

Alongside publishing the updated tariff sheets, the PTA has put two important new rules in place under the Mobile Tariff Regulations 2025. First, operators can now raise package prices only once per quarter, replacing a system where revisions could happen more often. Second, every proposed price increase must get prior PTA approval before it takes effect. This gives the regulator real control over how fast prices move going forward.

The PTA has also upgraded the Consumer Awareness section of its official website. Users can now see package-wise quarterly prices, the annual percentage increase for each bundle, validity periods, and the call, data, and SMS benefits included. This kind of clear, public comparison tool was missing before, and it is a meaningful step toward pricing transparency.

How to Check Your Current Package and Tariff

PTA has shared simple USSD codes that let you check your active subscription and avoid being caught off guard by price changes:

  • Jazz: dial *6611#
  • Telenor: dial *4444#
  • Zong: dial *6611#
  • Ufone: dial *6869#

You can also visit the PTA official website and check the Consumer Awareness section for the latest tariff sheets for all four operators. Before subscribing to any new bundle, comparing a few options there can save you real money.

Practical Tips for Pakistani Mobile Users Right Now

With mobile package prices now higher, a few simple habits help stretch your budget:

  • Check the PTA tariff page before renewing, prices across the four operators are not identical, and switching can save money.
  • Use Wi-Fi at home or work for heavy data use so your mobile bundle lasts longer.
  • Avoid auto-subscribe notifications; dial the USSD code above to see what is active before adding another bundle on top.
  • Compare fortnightly (15-day) packages against monthly ones, sometimes the price-per-day works out better for lighter users.

Pakistan’s telecom sector is also in the middle of a larger digital push. The government’s GSMA Digital Pakistan 2030 roadmap aims to expand connectivity across the country, but affordable data prices are a key part of making that goal real for ordinary users.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which networks have raised mobile package prices?

All four major operators, Jazz, Zong, Ufone, and Telenor, have raised prices. The PTA published updated tariff sheets covering the top 15 hybrid and data-only bundles from all four companies.

By how much have prices gone up?

Annual increases range from 19% to 33% depending on the package. In rupee terms, monthly bundles have gone up by as much as Rs500, weekly bundles by up to Rs130, and daily bundles by up to Rs5.

Did PTA approve these price increases?

Yes. The increases were implemented after the operators received formal approval from the PTA. Going forward, every new price change must also get prior PTA approval, and increases can only happen once per quarter.

Where can I see the new tariff details?

The PTA has published the full tariff information on its official website at pta.gov.pk under the Consumer Awareness section. You can compare prices, validity, and data allowances for all four operators in one place.
