Pakistan has launched its first Centre of Excellence in Gaming and Animation (CEGA), a Rs. 2.52 billion project. Spearheaded by the Ignite National Technology Fund, this initiative aims to revolutionize the country’s gaming and animation sector. HUM Networks secured the project after a competitive bidding process and rigorous evaluations. Construction officially commenced on August 1, 2025, marking a historic milestone.
Project Timeline and Objectives
The center will operate for five years and three months, offering training, innovation hubs, and industry growth opportunities. CEGA’s primary goal is to enhance skills, generate employment, and increase Pakistan’s presence in the global gaming market. By fostering talent and providing cutting-edge resources, the project seeks to position Pakistan as a regional leader in gaming and animation.

Last year, Pakistan’s gaming industry generated $170 million in revenue, with over 8,000 professionals actively contributing. The country produces more than 30,000 ICT graduates annually, supported by a young, English-speaking population. With 195 million mobile subscribers and 119 million 3G/4G users, the sector has immense growth potential. CEGA aims to harness this talent for global competitiveness.
Transparent Procurement Process
The journey to CEGA began in May 2024, involving technical and financial evaluations, grievance hearings, and committee reviews. HUM Networks was approved in May 2025 after extensive deliberations. The contract was signed on July 15, 2025, adhering to PPRA rules for transparency. This meticulous process ensures accountability and aligns with national development objectives.
