Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) has chosen to close the motorbike plant for three days, the automaker announced on Tuesday to the Pakistan Stock Exchange.
Pak Suzuki Letter To PSX
“Due to shortage of inventory level, the management of the company has decided to shut down the motorcycle plant from September 20, 2023, to September 22, 2023. However, the automobile plant will remain operative. Further update, if any, in this regard will be communicated accordingly,” the filing stated.
Several times in 2023, the Japanese carmaker announced shutdowns. It said last month that it would close its motorbike manufacturing from August 18 to August 31.
Previous Shutdown
Later, on August 31, the business announced that the factory would be closed until September 12, and that the shutdown would be prolonged until September 15.
Similar statements were made in July, June, and May, citing factors such as low inventory levels or a scarcity of raw materials.
Decline In Sales and Revenue
Suzuki, Pakistan’s largest carmaker in terms of production and sales, has seen a significant drop in sales and revenue as a result of periodic production halts.
Since 2022, industry participants have expressed worry about the difficulty in acquiring import permits for their production limits.
