The PNS SHAHJAHAN and TIPPU SULTAN, two newly built Type 054 A/P Frigates, were added to the Pakistan Navy’s fleet on Thursday.
Two newly built Type 54 A/P Frigates, PNS SHAHJAHAN and TIPPU SULTAN, were inducted during a ceremony that took place in Karachi.

According to a Pakistan Navy news release, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi welcomed Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif upon his arrival at PN Dockyard as the ceremony’s chief guest.
Modern weapons and sensors that can conduct naval operations in a multi-threat environment are installed on the ships. The addition of ships to the PN Fleet will greatly improve the Pakistan Navy’s combat readiness.
Speaking at the event, the chief guest recognized PN’s contributions to regional peace and stability as well as its efforts to ensure Pakistan’s seaward defense.
The minister emphasized the geostrategic and geo-economics importance that calls for a strong Naval Force to protect the nation’s maritime borders and that the introduction of these contemporary naval ships would considerably bolster Pakistan’s defense capabilities.
He also praised China’s Hudong Zhonghua Shipyard for constructing and delivering the ships to Pakistan on schedule.
The Chief of the Naval Staff described the introduction of modern ships as a significant step in the modernization of the PN Fleet earlier in the welcome address.
He expressed gratitude for the Pakistani government’s assistance of numerous PN modernization initiatives. Representatives from Pakistan’s civil, military, and government, as well as those from China’s Hudong Zhonghua Shipyard, attended the ceremony.
