After suffering a mechanical issue minutes before landing after a routine flight mission earlier today, a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) MFI-17 Super Mushak training plane crashed near Warsak Road in Peshawar.
PAF search and rescue teams were dispatched to the scene of the accident as soon as possible to save the survivors and recover the debris of the training plane. Unfortunately, both pilots chose martyrdom as a result of the collision.
The training aircraft was assigned to the PAF’s Primary Flying Training (PFT) wing, and the deceased officers were identified as Squadron Leader Asfandyar and Lieutenant Commander Zia, according to several reports.
A PAF official, on the other hand, stated that the PAF has also established a high-level investigation board to determine the reason of the terrible event.
In December of last year, a Pakistan Army aviation division helicopter crashed in the Siachin region after developing a technical malfunction during a regular flight mission.
Unfortunately, the two pilots of the aviation helicopter, Major Irfan and Major Zeeshan, had chosen martyrdom in the tragedy.
In August, two more identical plane disasters were reported. Neither instance, however, resulted in the death of anyone.
The first incident occurred near Attock on August 6, when a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) fighter trainer plane crashed during a regular training flight.
Both pilots successfully ejected from the plane, according to a statement published by a PAF spokeswoman at the time.
A Mushshak aircraft crashed into the fields of Chammala hamlet near Jhelum a few days later, on August 12, due to a technical failure. Both of the plane’s pilots had sustained minor injuries.
