For several public offices in the province, the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has developed over 500 official websites, including 490 in English and about 18 in Urdu.
This was discussed on Tuesday at a progress review meeting led by Syed Bilal Haider, the PITB Chairman.
The attendees of the meeting updated the meeting’s chairman on the fact that the PITB’s web presence team built these websites with optimum performance to guarantee transparency and benefit the public.
Additionally, the Punjab government has created a number of online portals for government agencies like the Punjab Examination Commission, Lahore High Court, Punjab Police, Excise & Taxation Department, CM Inspection Team, etc. in partnership with PITB.
Additionally, it was disclosed at the meeting that these websites had received more than 8.5 billion visitors overall.
In the meantime, PITB educates government workers on how to operate those websites, so they are not dependent on PITB.
Additionally, it has created websites for the federal government as well as divisions from other provinces, such as the Ministry of Information, Broadcasting, Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC), Balochistan Police, etc.
In addition, PITB informed the Chairman that it has been using the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2013, to increase transparency.
