The Crypto Browser Project, Opera’s latest Web3 endeavour, is now available in beta for Windows, Mac, and Android. The browser includes a built-in cryptocurrency wallet, quick access to cryptocurrency NFT exchanges, decentralized application (dApp) functionality, and more.
The goal, according to Jorgen Arnesen, EVP of Opera, is to “simplify the Web3 user experience, which is often befuddling for general users.”
Opera released its first web browser with a built-in bitcoin wallet and minimal Web3 compatibility in 2018. The Crypto Browser Project’s beta release heralds the start of a new adventure for Opera. A strong product team is behind the project.
Opera’s goal is to hasten “the evolution of the next generation of the Internet.”
Another useful feature of the browser is its built-in non-custodial wallet, which supports Ethereum, Bitcoin, Celo, and Nervos blockchains. Opera has also announced a collaboration with Polygon.
The Crypto Browser Project’s main goal is to enable users to access cryptocurrency without the use of addons. Third-party wallets are permitted in the Project.
In an official blog post, Opera stated, “As interest for a more decentralized Web keeps growing, we have chosen to take an active role in shaping what the next generation of the Web looks like and how it will be accessed.
Browsers will continue to play a crucial role in the decentralized internet and today’s beta release reflects that. Too few of the web browsing experiences offered today have been built to put Web3 center stage and make blockchain technologies understandable and easy to use.
With the Crypto Browser Project, we have set out to change this, and starting today, we are inviting the blockchain community to join this mission”.
Users may purchase cryptocurrencies via a fiat to crypto on-ramp, exchange coins directly in wallets, transfer and receive crypto, and check the balance in their wallets all from their web browser.
When data is copied or pasted, a secure clipboard function ensures that other apps cannot access it.
The Crypto Browser Project’s additional support for Web3, or the blockchain-based decentralized internet, is another key feature. Web3 not only adds security and privacy through blockchain encryption, but it also gives users access to GameFi, where they may “earn as you play your way through all kinds of metaverses,” according to Opera.
