Each month, WhatsApp adds new functionality to the messaging software. We received message responses and more this month, but there’s some bad news for people who still use earlier iPhones.
Support for Apple’s iOS 10 and 11 will be removed in a future WhatsApp release. This implies that WhatsApp updates will no longer be available on outdated iPhones running iOS 10 or earlier versions. WhatsApp advises iPhone users to download the most recent build available because the app may not operate correctly on some firmware releases.
“WhatsApp will stop supporting this version of iOS after 24 Oct 2022. Please go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update to get the latest iOS version.”
Because these devices are still running iOS 10 and 11, the iPhone 5 and 5c will no longer be supported following the next WhatsApp upgrade. If you have a newer iPhone, such as the iPhone 6 or higher, you may simply upgrade your phone to a newer build by going into the settings.
To be supported by WhatsApp on Android, the smartphone must be running Android 4.1 or above. With the release of iOS 16, Apple is expected to discontinue support for the iPhone 6 series as well as the original iPhone SE.
