Today, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts intermittent showers and thunderstorms in Karachi.
The maximum temperature in the port city is expected to be between 30 and 32 degrees Celsius, with humidity levels ranging from 80 to 90 percent.
Rains could fall in Karachi and other parts of Sindh until August 9 as a result of monsoon currents that have entered the province.
The PMD stated in its daily weather report that monsoon currents are penetrating the country’s central and southern regions. A westerly wind is also affecting the country’s west and upper reaches.
The Met Office predicts hot and humid weather in most parts of the country.
Rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected in Kashmir, upper Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit Baltistan, however. Rain, wind, and thundershowers are forecast in parts of lower Sindh and north Baluchistan.
Flooding in cities
From August 11 to 13, heavy rains may cause urban flooding in Karachi, Thatta, Badin, Hyderabad, Dadu, Jamshoro, Sukkur, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Mirpurkhas, according to the PMD.
On Saturday, the high temperature was 32.5 degrees Celsius, with a humidity of 73%. The Met Office recorded seven millimeters of rain in Gulshan-e-Hadeed and 1.5mm in Keamari, respectively, in some parts of the city.
