Noida to introduce pod taxis
The plans have been approved by the Uttar Pradesh government. They are in the process of preparing to issue global tenders to select a firm to build India’s first personal rapid transit (PRT) project. The 14.6-kilometer corridor, which is expected to cost Rs 640 crore, will be the world’s longest PRT route.
A detailed project report for the PRT system in Noida has been prepared by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA).
CEO Arun Vir Singh confirmed the state government’s approval of the pod taxi project during a meeting with the bid evaluation committee in Lucknow. Global tenders will be issued in a week, and a concessionaire will be chosen in two months.
The introduction of pod taxis as a public transportation solution is a first for India. This project will transform travel between the Jewar airport and key locations along the Yamuna Expressway. Furthermore, it will boost tourism and the region’s industrial sector.
