The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) declared on Thursday that it will not issue new notes for Eid-ul-Fitr via SMS or banks.
No new currency notes for Eidi!
It should be mentioned that due to the COVID-19 epidemic, which had a large impact on the country in 2020, the policy regarding the issuing of new notes was amended.
Following the outbreak, the SBP ceased distributing fresh notes, which had previously been handed to citizens by SMS or at their various branches.
On the other side, the federal government has agreed to advance pay April’s salaries, allowances, and pensions to all working and retired government employees in honour of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The decision was made during a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, who directed the Secretary Finance to take action as soon as possible.
The Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee has also called its monthly meeting to observe the Shawaal crescent.
The meeting has been scheduled on Thursday, April 20th. On the same day, zonal committees will convene in designated zones.
The central gathering will be held at Islamabad’s Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony building. The session will be presided over by Chairman Molana Abdul Khabeer Azad.
This year, there will be no new currency notes for Eidi!
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced that no new currency will be issued during Eidul Fitr 2023. The central bank stated that it will not release new notes to the general public or banks via SMS.
Every year, the bank prints new money notes because people traditionally gift Eidi to children using new banknotes.
It is worth noting that new notes policies abound following the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Meanwhile, the failure to issue new currency notes is likely to drive up black market pricing.
