The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will soon announce new central contracts. Big changes will happen in player categories.
Fast bowler Naseem Shah will get a Category A contract. He has been performing well. Shadab Khan might get a lower contract. He has not been playing well.
The Pakistan Cricket Board talked a lot with selectors and coaches. Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie were included. They focused on performance and fitness for new contracts.
Even if some players get lower contracts, salaries will stay the same.
Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan have Category A contracts now. Naseem Shah will join them. This is a big step for him.
Mohammad Nawaz and Imad Wasim might lose their contracts.
The PCB made a big change. They did not give No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to all-format players. These certificates allow players to play in other leagues.
At first, the Pakistan Cricket Board wanted to lower contracts after the T20 World Cup. But Gary Kirsten, the white-ball coach, suggested keeping contracts for all-format players.
Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman will stay in Category B. They play in two formats. Shan Masood, the red-ball captain, will also stay in Category B.
The biggest changes will be in Category D. The Pakistan Cricket Board might reduce the number of players in this category.
