After developing a technical issue, an Indian Army Cheetah helicopter crashed in the Baraum area of the Gurez sector of India Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The claimed accident site is less than 5 kilometers from Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s capital (AJK).
According to reports, the Indian Army has dispatched search and rescue teams and helicopters to the scene of the accident in order to save the crew and recover the helicopter’s wreckage.
The pilot and co-pilot escaped safely before the helicopter crashed near the Line of Control, according to Indian media reports. Official confirmation on the safety of Indian Army pilots is still pending.
The Indian Army, on the other hand, has established a high-level inquiry board to determine the reason of the sad event.
The Indian Air Force (IAF) Mi-17V5 helicopter carrying the Chief of Defense Staff, General Bipin Rawat, and a number of other senior officials crashed in Tamil Nadu last December after suffering a technical defect.
The crash claimed the lives of 14 individuals, including General Bipin Rawat, his wife, his Defense Assistant, security commandos, and IAF pilots.
