Namira Salim is going to do something incredible before the end of the year. On Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic spaceship, she will proudly fly Pakistan’s flag into space. This makes her the first Pakistani astronaut to take part in this exclusive private spaceflight.

Namira Salim has previously represented Pakistan in space. Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, Pakistan’s former Prime Minister, received the first Pakistani flag sent into space in March 2008. This occurred in June 2010 during a meeting in Brussels.
It’s worth noting that Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani’s family has deep roots in Pakistan. They were instrumental in Pakistan’s independence, and his father, Makhdoom Syed Alamdar Hussain Gilani, was one of the signatories to the Pakistan Resolution.
