NADRA Adds Birth, Death Registration to Pak ID App

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has taken a historic step toward easing the lives of Pakistan’s citizens. With the launch of a new feature in its Pak ID mobile app, people can now register births and deaths directly from their smartphones. This change promises to reduce bureaucracy and improve accessibility, especially for those in areas where floods have disrupted regular administrative operations.

Initial Rollout in Selected Districts

The new digital facility has been rolled out in Jhelum, Chakwal, and Nankana Sahib. These districts were chosen for pilot implementation because they faced heavy challenges in record-keeping after natural disasters. Citizens in these regions can now avoid repeated visits to union council offices, saving time and resources. This local rollout will guide NADRA in expanding the service nationwide effectively and smoothly.

Key Features of the New Service

Benefit Details
Convenience Citizens can register births and deaths without visiting union council offices.
Accessibility Special focus on flood-affected and rural areas to ensure inclusivity.
Efficiency Faster processing, reduced paperwork, and fewer manual errors.
Transparency A centralized record system ensures accuracy and prevents fraudulent entries.

Convenience for Families

Traditionally, families endured long queues and multiple visits to government offices for registering births and deaths. Often, the process was further delayed due to missing paperwork or clerical errors. The Pak ID app changes this landscape dramatically. Users can now submit applications, upload the required documents, and track their progress in real-time. This convenience reflects NADRA’s growing commitment to citizen-centered digital services.

Accessibility for Remote Areas

A major benefit of this initiative is its focus on accessibility for rural and flood-affected areas. Disasters often cut off families from administrative offices, leaving vital registrations delayed for months. The app bridges this gap, allowing anyone with a smartphone and internet access to complete the process. NADRA aims to ensure that every child’s birth and every death are properly recorded, strengthening national databases.

Efficiency in Record-Keeping

The new digital feature enhances efficiency by reducing paperwork and manual entry errors. Registrations that once required physical documents, verification stamps, and lengthy approvals are now streamlined through a secure digital platform. This step reduces human error and ensures quicker processing times. By digitizing these crucial records, NADRA is modernizing Pakistan’s population management systems and preparing the groundwork for more advanced e-governance initiatives.

Ensuring Transparency

One of the key goals of digitization is transparency. The centralized record system in the Pak ID app minimizes the chances of duplicate or fraudulent entries. Citizens can rest assured that their data is being securely managed and preserved. At the same time, the government gains more accurate population statistics, helping policymakers in planning education, healthcare, and social welfare programs across the country.

National Expansion Plans

Officials confirm that NADRA is preparing to expand this digital service nationwide in collaboration with local administrations. Once successful in the pilot districts, every province will gain access to this feature. This expansion will not only save millions of citizens from administrative hassle but also unify the nation’s vital records under a single, reliable system. It marks a decisive shift toward a paperless, connected future for Pakistan.

Voices from NADRA

According to officials, the new feature is not simply about adding technology; it is about human convenience. A representative noted, “Digitization is not just about technology, it’s about making life easier for people.” This statement highlights the spirit behind the initiative, where efficiency meets compassion. By simplifying vital registrations, NADRA is ensuring that citizens spend less time in bureaucracy and more time with their families.

A Step Toward Digital Pakistan

This development is part of a broader vision to transform Pakistan into a digital-first nation. By empowering citizens with smartphone-based solutions, NADRA is reducing barriers between people and public services. In the future, more functions are expected to be added to the Pak ID app, making it a one-stop platform for essential government services. It is a step toward transparency, convenience, and national progress.
