Pakistan’s former all-rounder, Muhammad Hafeez, expressed his surprise at the delay of authorities in passing a bill against “fixing” and urged the relevant authorities to pass the bill as soon as possible.
“I read somewhere that former chairman Ehsan Mani was working on a bill that would make it illegal for a player to serve Pakistan again after being involved in fixing,” Hafeez stated.
Previously, the board was working on a bill that applies to anyone involved in fixing to pay a very high fine and face a ban. A 77-page draft was even designed but no action has been taken yet. It was done during the term of former PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani’s.
Meanwhile, Hafeez recalled the response of PCB when he refused to play with a match-fixer. He admitted about feeling down but decided to focus on positive energy and play with pride for Pakistan.
“I don’t see why it hasn’t passed yet”. “I don’t understand why people are hesitant to accept this noble decision; it should be authorized immediately,” he continued.
He expressed he was shocked when he heard this news from Najam Sethi and Shahryar Khan.
On the other hand, according to Hafeez, no one had the courage to offer him anything close to fixing in his 18-old career.
“It never took place. I believe it was because of the way of my living, because I didn’t let others think this way about me or talk to me on this matter,” added the former all-rounder.
Hafeez recently announced his retirement from international cricket. He has played a total of 55 Tests, 218 ODIs, and 119 T20Is for Pakistan, while scoring 12,780 runs in total. He also has a record of 253 wickets.
Meanwhile, Hafeez recalled the response of PCB when he refused to play with a match-fixer. He admitted about not feeling good but decided to stay focus on positive energy and play with pride for Pakistan.
