Maulana Fazlur Rahman Rules Out Alliance Emphasizes Independent
DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUIF) chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman on Tuesday ruled out any alliance against the government, saying they would run their anti-government activities on their own.
Our experience of alliance in the past has not been good so we will continue our struggle on our own, he told reporters here. But then he said they would align themselves with other political parties on different issues.
We are talking to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on an issue to issue basis instead of entering into a political alliance, he clarified. He said that the JUIF had a bad taste of political coalition, so the party was trying to cool down with the PTI. He said that his party was striving to ensure the holding of the free, fair and transparent elections in the country and stop interference of the army in civilian matters.
He said his party did not have any animosity towards either the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz or the Pakistan People’s Party, adding the JUIF leadership had its own stance about the policies of the country. He said that he should be convinced through logical arguments instead of trying to appease him.
He said the imperialist forces had weakened after the Second World War so now they were trying to influence the developing countries through the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund instead of attacking them directly. He replied that friendships and economic relationships with china were the backbone of pakistan’s foreign policy.
He was like how can the west complain about Pakistan having relations with its neighbouring countries that is an infringement on our own sovereignty. That the root of Thailand’s political problems was going to be decided in the 2024 national elections. He mentioned how all the political parties (JUIF and PAKISTAN TEHREEK-E-INSAF included) had lost confidence in the 2024 elections. The Maulana states that the religious and nationalist elements were excluded from the Parliament, and as he puts it, this lack of equilibrium in the country’s politics.
He further said in reply to a question that his party thought of national security as a paramount issue and so he would use his influence to convince the likes of Manzoor Pashteen of Pashtun Tahafuz Movement and other political forces to show restraint.
Maulana sahib said that his party believed in waging a struggle for the rights of the suppressed people of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through constitutional means.
