The winds of change move through Multan as the district administration introduces a strict ban on flatbed loader rickshaws. This step comes after rising worries over road safety, with many accidents tied to unsafe transport habits. In a meeting led by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Salma Suleman, officials spoke about the need to protect travelers and bring order back to the city’s busy roads.
Officials Unite for Safer Streets
The meeting brought together Additional Deputy Commissioner Ghulam Mustafa Sihar, the Regional Transport Authority Secretary, and a representative from the DSP Traffic office. They all agreed that the growing use of modified rickshaws has created danger for everyone. The team decided to begin a full crackdown across the district, aiming to stop unsafe vehicles before they cause more harm.
Safety Concerns Lead to Immediate Action
Authorities shared that these flatbed loader rickshaws have been linked to several troubling accidents. Their unstable frames and heavy loads make them risky for the drivers and for others on the road. Dr. Suleman stressed that no vehicle involved in earlier accidents should return to the streets. Her clear instructions show a firm desire to defend public safety and restore balance to daily travel.
Overloaded Rickshaws Also Under Watch
Along with banning flatbed loaders, officials will take strong action against overloaded motorcycle rickshaws. Many of these vehicles carry far more weight than they should, putting lives in danger. Enforcement teams have been told to check such rickshaws without delay. Officers will submit daily progress reports so authorities can track improvements and make sure the rules are followed in every part of the district.
Fog Season Prompts Extra Precautions
With winter fog approaching, Dr. Suleman also spoke about the need for brighter and safer roads. She ordered all sugarcane-laden tractor-trolleys to install reflectors that shine through the mist. In low visibility weather, even small steps can save lives. Officials believe that these simple tools will help prevent harmful collisions and guide vehicles safely through the foggy season.
A Step Toward a Safer Future
The new measures show a determined effort to bring calm and safety back to Multan’s roads. While some may find the shift challenging, the long-term benefits promise smoother, safer travel for all. As enforcement teams begin their work, the city hopes to see fewer accidents and more responsible driving, setting an example for other regions to follow in the days ahead.
