On May 23, Kia will unveil the EV3, the latest addition to its bespoke electric vehicle (EV) lineup. The compact electric SUV, first shown in concept form last year, promises to keep the bold and futuristic styling of its predecessor while adding a touch of affordability to the mix.
EV3
The EV3, which is set to be revealed later this month, has already generated a lot of buzz thanks to a series of teaser images that hint at a design that closely resembles the concept’s angular lines and distinctive features.
With Kia’s design chief Karim Habib at the helm, there are high hopes for a vehicle that combines eye-catching aesthetics with practicality.
Kia aims to position the EV3 as an accessible option, with entry-level models expected to cost less than £30,000 (Rs. 1.04 crore).
EV3 arrives in Pakistan
This pricing makes it more affordable to a wider audience (at least in the UK), with the goal of making electric driving a viable option for more consumers around the world.
If the EV3 ever arrives in Pakistan, expect the price to be significantly higher due to dealer margins, import costs, and so on.
Niro EV
The EV3, which sits alongside the Niro EV in Kia’s lineup, departs from the company’s multi-powertrain platform in favour of the Hyundai Motor Group’s unique electric EGMP platform.
This shift creates opportunities for a variety of powertrains and battery sizes, ensuring flexibility and adaptability to changing consumer demands.
E-GMP Platform
Drawing power from the E-GMP platform, the EV3 is expected to deliver impressive performance, with entry-level models producing around 215 horsepower.
While charging speeds may be slightly slower due to the 400V electrical architecture, the platform’s efficiency and cost-effectiveness make it an appealing option for Kia’s most recent electric venture.
