In a surprise move, Lucky Motor Corporation (LMC) has significantly reduced the price of the Kia Stonic in Pakistan. According to the most recent business statement, the price of the Kia Stonic EX+ has been decreased by Rs 15.13 lac.
The Kia Stonic is now available for PKR 47.67 lakh, down from PKR 62.80 lac before the price cut. The new pricing is effective April 29, 2024.
Stonic, the only model in Kia’s local lineup that is not globally obsolete, has never achieved even third gear in terms of sales due to expensive price and marketing strategies that portrayed it as a C-segment vehicle rather than its original B-segment.
Kia’s Local Lineup
Since its arrival in late 2021, our top auto portals have done their utmost to depict the Stonic as a C-segment challenger to the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic, despite the fact that it is only classified as a B-segment crossover elsewhere.
C-segment
The increasingly aware auto purchasers simply refused to accept the B-segment product as a viable alternative to C-segment sedans because they had to read about it online. Consequently, the marketing exercise backfired.
SUV for the City
Despite being promoted as a “SUV for the city,” the Stonic, which is just a crossover version of the Kia Rio, is as spacious as a hatch.
Furthermore, its pricing is the most significant disadvantage because there are far superior alternatives that are not only larger but also have more inside room than the Stonic.
Due to sluggish demand, the firm was obliged to cancel the standard EX version, leaving just the EX+ on the menu.
