Final preparations are being made by the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) for the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) regulations.
A team of information security professionals known as a Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) is in charge of guarding against, identifying, and responding to cybersecurity issues within a business.
According to ministry sources, the CERT guidelines have been under development for a few months, and all relevant parties have been contacted.
The establishment of such a team with a thorough strategy and predetermined procedures to follow is necessary for light of recent cyberattacks on government assets.
They continued by saying that the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), and the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) were all given access to the initial draught of the CERT Rules.
In discussion with the private sectors in their respective zones, each regulator has provided the MoITT with their recommendations.
Once the rules are complete, they will be sent to the Ministry of Law. The rules will be transmitted to the Federal Cabinet for approval once they have been reviewed by the ministry.
The sources further stated that a thorough strategy against cyberattacks will be implemented at the organizational level when the guidelines have been approved.
According to the regulations, all the authorities would create sector-level computer emergency response teams and support the private sector.
