Dr. Umar Saif, Caretaker Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications, inaugurated the country’s first e-Rozgar Centre in Islamabad on Tuesday in collaboration with Excel Consulting Services.
The centre will have 100 workstations equipped with all facilities for freelancers, which can be expanded to 300 workstations in the future.
Country’s 1st e-Rozgar Centre
Speaking on the occasion, the minister stated that with the establishment of the centre, the project of establishing 10,000 e-rozgar centres across the country has now officially begun.
And we have also fulfilled another promise made to the people, by allowing a significant number of the existing 1.5 million and upcoming new freelancers to work independently at very low rates.
They are getting the best opportunities possible. These amenities include high-speed internet, UPS, training centres, individual cabins, meeting rooms, and separate office rooms for start-ups, he added.
Dr. Saif stated that with the completion of this great project, IT exports may increase by $10 billion per year, and that through public-private partnerships, these centres will be able to significantly increase the capacity and income of freelancers.
He stated that the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) will be in charge of providing freelancers and the necessary technical support for these centres.
