Israel banned Al Jazeera for another 45 days. The telecoms regulator extended the ban. The government says Al Jazeera threatens security.
A Tel Aviv court upheld a 35-day ban. This initial ban ended on Saturday. The government imposed it on national security grounds.
Israel’s Supreme Court made a separate ruling. The court described the ban as “precedent-setting.” The government has until August 8 to respond.
They must explain why the law should not be void. The law prevents foreign broadcasters from harming security.
Al Jazeera denies inciting violence or terrorism. They say the ban is not fair. Court documents showed this.
Al Jazeera often criticizes Israel’s actions in Gaza. They plan to appeal the latest ban extension.
The ban affects Al Jazeera’s broadcasts. They are blocked on cable and satellite. Access to its websites is also blocked. The Communications Ministry confirmed this.

ToggleUS and Saudi Arabia Nearing Treaty to Defend Gulf Nation
The Biden government is almost done making a treaty with Saudi Arabia. The deal will make the US promise to help protect Saudi Arabia. It’s meant to make Riyadh and Israel get along better.
The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday. The US and Saudi officials told them about the deal. For many weeks, the US and others have been talking about this deal.
The treaty would also include a US-Saudi nuclear deal. There would be steps towards making a Palestinian country
Also, it would try to stop the fighting in Gaza. Peace efforts in Gaza have not worked for months.
The treaty must get a two-thirds vote in the US Senate. It’s hard to get that many votes. But it might happen if it helps Israel and Saudi Arabia be friends.
The treaty is like the US-Japan security deal. The newspaper said US and Saudi officials told them this.
The draft treaty says the US will help Saudi Arabia if it’s attacked. In exchange, the US can use Saudi land and airspace. This is to protect US and other countries’ interests in the area.
The treaty also makes Saudi Arabia closer to the US. It stops China from building bases in Saudi Arabia. It also stops China and Saudi Arabia from working together on security.
The White House, the US State Department, and the Saudi embassy in Washington did not say anything.
