Iran Khodro Company (IKCO), the country’s largest automaker, has revealed a second new model in the past five months as part of aims to expand its offerings and increase local and foreign sales.
The new vehicle, known as TF21, was introduced in front of government representatives and top IKCO management during an event held at the business’s headquarters in western Tehran. The TF21 is powered by a 16-valve, 110-horsepower TU5P engine, according to IKCO CEO Mehdi Khatibi. He also noted that both a 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission would be offered for the hatchback.
According to Khatibi, the IKCO intends to produce 100,000 TF21 units in the first year of production beginning in September 2023. He said that the vehicle will take the place of the Peugeot 405 and Samand models from IKCO, both of which will soon be withdrawn.
The vehicle company, which is majority controlled by the Iranian government, debuted its first domestic crossover in June under the name Rira. The release of The TF21 is just around 5 months after Rira’s debut.
IKCO will reportedly commit to significant modifications in its production platforms with the launch of these two new models, according to company executives.
