The iQoo Neo 5s smartphone is reportedly inching closer to its launch, and now, ahead of its launch, a set of official teasers about the smartphone on Chinese social media platform Weibo have revealed key colour variants of the device. According to the posts, the device is set to launch in three colour variants — orange, black and a gradient shade of blue. The latter is something that iQoo’s fellow brand Vivo has itself marketed under the ‘aurora’ colour melange. Interestingly, while the black and the blue gradient colour variants do not feature any special branding on their rear, the orange variant appears to feature the ‘Neo’ branding on its back.
The iQoo Neo 5s is tipped to be launching in China in the coming days, and it is not quite clear if the device will also be introduced in global markets including India. According to leaks around the smartphone, the device is set to be a flagship category one. As per tipped specifications, the iQoo Neo 5s will seemingly offer the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC, along with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Joining this performance configuration is a 6.56-inch full HD+ display, based on an OLED panel.
Other key features tipped for the iQoo Neo 5s include a 48MP triple rear camera based on the Sony IMX598 image sensor. The smartphone may also have a 16MP front-facing camera, while a 4,500mAh battery could be powering the setup. It could also feature 66W fast charging, and as per reports, it would run on Android 12 based on OriginOS. The overall design looks fairly standard, with a large, rectangular rear camera unit taking up a significant chunk of the rear panel of the smartphone.
Elsewhere, reports have also started surfacing about the iQoo 9, which could become the brand’s next generation flagship smartphone. The latter is expected to run on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor from Qualcomm, and come with a 50MP triple rear camera setup and 120W fast charging — among other specifications. However, the key difference is that while the iQoo 9 is expected to be a next-gen flagship, the Neo 5s could offer yesteryear’s flagship specs in a recent device — and may therefore offer a value proposition to buyers.
