With the launching of the next-generation chips, Intel has announced certain branding modifications.
As part of the company’s greatest brand refresh in 15 years, the next Meteor Lake chips will usher in a new era of Intel Core processors.
The removal of the ‘i’ from processor tiering on subsequent generations, beginning with Meteor Lake, is one of the important modifications. Instead of Core i3/i5/i7/i9 CPUs, the chipmaker will now refer to them as Core 3/5/7/9 processors.
New Intel Core Ultra processors
In addition, the chipmaker has announced the release of new Intel Core Ultra processors. According to the chipmaker, these CPUs will include the most recent advances in client computing technology while streamlining the Core processor lineup to appeal to a wider range of mainstream offerings.
“Our client roadmap demonstrates how the chipmaker is prioritizing innovation and technology leadership with products like Meteor Lake, focused on power efficiency and AI at scale,” said Caitlin Anderson, the chipmaker vice president and general manager of client computing group sales.
“To better align with our product strategies, we are introducing a branding structure that will help PC buyers better differentiate the best of our latest technology and our mainstream offerings.”
According to the chipmaker, the Meteor Lake processors mark a key turning point in the chipmaker’s client processor roadmap. These next CPUs will be the first client processors built on the Intel 4 process.
They will also use chiplet design made possible by the Foveros 3D packaging technology. Notably, these will be the chipmaker’s first client processors to include a dedicated AI engine.
