The Information Technology (IT) Park, which is being built in Karachi at a cost of Rs31 billion, is expected to house roughly 210 businesses with a total workforce of 8,400 people.
This facility, according to a senior official with the Ministry of Information Technology, is part of a bigger government effort to construct purpose-built IT zones and parks in key places across the country.
“This facility is the part of government strategy to develop IT zones and software parks besides setting up purpose-built software technology parks in major cities of the country,” the official said.
The project would include a multi-story office structure with eight floors above ground and three basement floors, which is expected to attract a slew of foreign enterprises and global IT organizations as investors.
The park, which covers an area of 106,449 square meters, will serve as a meeting ground for industry and education. Offices, daycare centers, amenities, security features, parking, and other amenities will be available.
In terms of how the Park would affect Pakistan’s economy, the project will promote the establishment of IT clusters, increase export income, and showcase Pakistan’s best IT innovation.
“There will be post-project operational support for the Information Technology park management two years after its completion,” he added.
He stated that in order to promote Pakistan’s IT sector, a specific technology zone was recently established in Islamabad.
The government intends to construct software technology parks in Pakistan’s minor and big towns, including Quetta, Gwadar, Faisalabad, Bannu, Swat, Mardan, Sukkur, and Hyderabad, according to the official.
