Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) has made significant progress in uncovering a vast gas theft ring in Karachi. Over Rs. 156 million worth of stolen petrol was found thanks to this operation.
According to information, SSGC authorities discovered gas theft totaling an astounding Rs. 150.65 million during a series of raids conducted in Liaquatabad, Korangi, Mehran Town, and several other locations of Karachi.
SSGCL Representative Says
According to an SSGCL representative, the people were taking roughly 5.073 million cubic metres of gas out of SSGC’s service lines without authorization. In these places, 5,216 illicit connections were unplugged overall throughout the operation.
The representative went on to say that pipes and other items used in the gas theft operations were seized by the enforcement team. He went on to say that anybody who steal gas will face harsh penalties from the gas provider.
The owner of a well-known hotel was earlier detained by the authorities on suspicion of taking gas straight from Karachi’s service line.
The proprietor of the Chai Gulab Hotel was taken into custody after an SSGC recovery squad and Control Gas Theft Operations (CGTO) stormed a tea hotel in Karachi’s Pathan Colony neighbourhood.
