Imran Khan’s motion for a waiver of his appearance in court in seven instances was denied by the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Friday, and his temporary bail was also revoked.
Ijaz Ahmad Butar, an ATC judge, heard requests for exemption in seven instances, including those involving the chaos on May 9 and the assault on Jinnah House. The court reserved its decision after hearing arguments from both parties, and it was made public later that day.
In the hearing, the government’s representatives were represented by Special Prosecutor Farhad Ali Shah, and the PTI chairman was represented by Barrister Salman Safdar.
Barrister Safdar presented his reasons and asked for more time. But the judge made him present his argument.
Imran would show up in court, according to Barrister Safdar, if a production order was issued for him.
Farhad, the special prosecutor, contended that the court could not grant favors that violated the law.
Imran Khan’s Bail Issue
He explained to the court how the bail process would proceed once the accused had been found guilty and how a felon may be called in for interim bail.
The court reserved judgment on the PTI chairman’s appeal for exemption from personal appearance in interim bail in seven cases after hearing the arguments from both parties. The decision to cancel bail was disclosed later.
