On Wednesday, the Sindh police reacted quickly to a terrorist attack on the Karachi Police Office. The Inspector General of Police Sindh, Ghulam Nabi Memon banned police officers from using mobile phones while performing their official responsibilities.
On duty, several police officers were observed utilizing their mobile phones. The prohibition will specifically apply to security personnel employed in the field since the directive was issued following approval from pertinent authorities.
IG Sindh Order Implementation
The directive has been distributed to additional IGs in Sindh, DIGs, SSPs, and DIGs headquarters.
As was already mentioned, a terrorist attack on the Karachi Police office prompted the ban on mobile phones. Pakistani Taliban terrorists assaulted a police compound in Karachi, killing at least four people.
This comprised a civilian and three members of the security force. Several police officers also suffered injuries.
One of the terrorists detonated himself after entering the police building, leaving two of them dead. The Pakistani Taliban, also known as Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), took credit for the assault.
According to government adviser Murtaza Wahab, police and paramilitary troops were able to clear the building three hours after the incident.
