A summary for a gas price increase could be presented today (Monday) at a meeting presided over by caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar.
Hike in Gas Tariff Recommended
It is proposed to raise the gas tariff by approximately 200 percent, with domestic consumers facing increases of up to 172 percent.
There is a proposal to raise monthly fixed charges for protected domestic gas consumers from Rs. 10 to Rs. 400, a three thousand nine hundred percent increase.
The caretaker government intends to raise gas prices by nearly 200 percent beginning November 1.
It is proposed to raise the gas tariff by 172% for domestic customers and 2000% for all other consumers.
Proposed Price Increase
According to sources, the price for non-protected users up to 0.25 cubic meters per month will be increased by 100 rupees per mmbtu, and the price for users with 0.60 cubic meters per month will be increased by 300 rupees per mmbtu.
The price for these customers could rise from Rs. 300 to Rs. 600 per mmbtu.
According to sources, an increase of Rs. 600 per mmbtu for non-protected consumers of 100 cubic meters per month is proposed.
It is proposed that the price for these customers be raised from Rs. 400 to Rs. 1,000 per mmbtu.
Customers who use 150 cubic meters per month may see a price increase ranging from Rs. 600 to Rs. 1,200 per mmbtu.
Tariff increases of Rs. 800 per MMBTU have been proposed for customers with 200 cubic meters per month.
It is proposed that the tariff for this group of customers be raised from Rs. 800 to Rs. 1600 per mmbtu.
It is proposed to raise the price of mmbtu by Rs. 1900 for users who use 300 cubic meters per month.
It is proposed that the price for these users be raised from 1100 to 3000 rupees per mmbtu.
Proposed Hike For Cement Sector
According to sources, the price has been proposed to be increased from Rs. 1500 to Rs. 4400 per mmbtu after increasing the cement sector’s gas tariff by Rs. 2900 per mmbtu.
Tariffs for export industries will be raised by Rs. 950 per mmbtu. The proposed tariff for export industries is Rs. 2050 per mmbtu.
The proposed tariff for non-export industries is Rs. 2600 per mmbtu, an increase of Rs. 1400 per mmbtu.
Proposed Hike For CNG Sector
The price of gas for the CNG sector has been proposed to be increased by Rs. 2,595 per mmbtu. The proposed gas tariff for the CNG sector is Rs. 4400 per mmbtu.
