The National Corruption Perception Survey (NCPS) 2021 regarding inflation was released earlier today by Transparency International Pakistan (TIP).
The NCPS 2021 revealed how Pakistanis perceive major governance concerns, ranging from the biggest inflation during the present government’s mandate to the police being the most corrupt governmental department.
However, it has been discovered that the TIP’s methodology for the NCPS is significantly defective, and that it requires a number of authenticity and scientific validity checks in order to accurately reflect the nation’s genuine impression.
Bilal Gilani, the Executive Director of Gallup Pakistan, wrote on Twitter that the NCPS does not represent the entire country because rural areas were left out of the poll.
Large geographic areas within each province are also overlooked. The NCPS, for example, does not include any cities in Northern Punjab, Southern KP, Hazara Division, or Malakand Division.
People have been interviewed in places that are often biassed and unrepresentative of a city’s whole population.
In the NCPS, all provinces were considered identically, which means that Balochistan, which has a population of 5%, was treated the same as Punjab, which has a population of 53%.
Finally, women are only marginally represented in the NCPS, and the vast majority of the views expressed in the NCPS are those of men.
Bilal Gilani expressed his disappointment that the NCPS 2021 appears to be based on a convenient technique and the researchers’ knowledge, noting that the official report has numerous typographical errors and superfluous content.
