In response to escalating incidents of educational visa fraud that have put students and their families at risk, the Higher Education Commission HEC has introduced preventative measures. There have been claims that criminal organisations, including some with roots in Sialkot, have been exploiting the system for issuing student visas.
HEC insiders are quoted in the press as saying that these networks use numerous strategies, including promising guaranteed admission, charging exorbitant fees, and promising scholarships that they cannot possibly fulfil. HEC has issued a dire warning to students and their parents about this pervasive problem.
HEC ask for prevention
The commission recommends getting in touch with the relevant educational institution or embassy directly for correct information and stresses the need of confirming the registrations of foreign universities with the applicable accrediting authority.
Additionally, HEC recommends that applicants double-check all information provided by schools, scholarship providers, and immigration agencies. Education visa fraud is on the rise as more and more students follow their aspirations of studying abroad.
