The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a press statement predicting rainfall, wind, and thunderstorms from September 15 to 20.
The Met Office attributes this weather event to mild monsoon currents originating in the Bay of Bengal, which are likely to infiltrate the country’s upper regions during this time period.
Furthermore, on September 16, a westerly wave is expected to surge into these locations, exacerbating the meteorological conditions.
Expected Heavy Rainfall Impacted Areas
Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Peshawar, and a number of other towns and districts are among those impacted.
The Met Office predicts moderate to heavy rainfall, which could lead to higher water flows in local Nullahs and streams. Landslides are also a worry in Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir, GB, and other sensitive locations.
PMD Precautionary Message For Farmers and General Public
Farmers are recommended to alter crop activities properly, and tourists and travelers are reminded to use caution during this time.
Furthermore, the public is encouraged to stay indoors during windstorms, lightning, and heavy rainfall, as these weather events have the potential to harm structures such as electric poles and solar panels.
All appropriate authorities have been notified, and citizens are encouraged to remain up to current on the latest developments by visiting the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s official website.
