The information minister stated on Twitter that the government has allocated Rs1 billion ($3.5 million) for the health insurance of working journalists in the new budget, which was released on Friday.
Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s finance minister, unveiled a budgetary plan for the country’s cash-strapped economy, assigning 50% of the entire outlay to interest payments and aiming for a fiscal deficit of 6.5%.
“Delighted to announce that an allocation has been made in the budget for the health insurance of working journalists,” Marriyum Aurangzeb, minister of information, wrote on Twitter.

In the budget for FY 2023-24, one billion rupees was set up specifically for this purpose, a historic first.
In light of the current economic climate, Aurangzeb expressed her gratitude to Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Finance Minister Dar for this “very important measure,” and she explained that it was her intention to provide this opportunity for media personnel.
