According to a statement released by the Cabinet Division, the government on Tuesday approved a three-day holiday in honor of Eid ul Adha, which will be observed on June 29.
Holiday Announced
“[…] it is for general information that the Prime Minister is pleased to approve the public holidays on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha as follows:
- 29th and 30th June, 2023 (Thursday and Friday) for the offices observing five days working in a week; and
- 29th June to 1st July, 2023 (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) for the offices observing 6 days working in a week.”
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee had earlier reported the sighting of the Zil Hajj moon in Pakistan, which means that Eid ul Adha will be observed there on June 29 (Thursday).
After the moon sighting committee’s meeting, which was presided over by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, the decision was made public.
The chairman of the Ruet-e-Hilal committee reported that reports of moon sightings had come in from a number of places, including Karachi, Lahore, and others.
The meeting was also attended by representatives from the Ministry of Science and Technology, Department of Meteorology, Ministry of Religious Affairs, SUPARCO, and Department of Meteorology.
The decision was made after consulting the Ruet-e-Hilal zonal committees, who had met in their various cities.
