The government, according to Prime Minister Imran Khan, is rewarding the most capable sectors to assist the economy expand.
Yesterday in Islamabad, the Prime Minister presided over a crucial discussion on IT sector incentives under priority sectors. An in-depth briefing on the application of current government facilities for local industry, IT start-ups, and existing IT firms was delivered to the gathering.
The gathering was informed that the Prime Minister’s recent industrial and information technology sector package is currently being implemented.
According to the prime minister, thanks to government initiatives and recently announced facilities for the industry, Pakistan has seen a significant increase in the number of freelancers.
He stated that one of the government’s primary goals is to increase domestic IT exports, and that providing facilities to smart and young freelancers will boost the exchange rate.
He emphasized the importance of recent government incentives to develop the industrial and information technology sectors, as well as fundamental efforts to improve business facilities.
During the meeting, it was discussed that the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) is implementing measures to facilitate access to banking channels for seamless remittances to Pakistan via freelancing on a priority basis.
Furthermore, through the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) portal, one-step enrolment of freelancers has been ensured, and registration with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) will be automatic.
It was announced at the meeting that a system will be launched soon to allow IT companies to benefit from government tax breaks.
Periodic guidance will be issued in the near future to ensure the supply of permitted facilities and benefits through commercial banks.
Following that, the Prime Minister directed that the government’s announced measures be implemented in a timely manner to ensure the provision of facilities and incentives to freelancers, IT companies, and other industries.
Federal Ministers Asad Umar and Hammad Azhar, as well as Chairman of the Special Technology Zones Authority, Amir Hashmi, and other senior officials, attended the meeting. Reza Baqir, Governor of the SBP, joined the meeting via video link.
