The federal government is preparing to abolish the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) autonomy and limit the chairman’s authority in a move that will undoubtedly spark controversy.
Profit has been credibly informed by sources that the law and justice ministry has been putting the groundwork in place to place NAB under the control of a certain ministry or division. NAB, a federal organization having the authority of a law enforcement agency, was created in 1999 and is autonomous and constitutionally established.
The terms and conditions, compensation, benefits, and privileges of NAB officers are probably coming to an end. According to reports, the officers and staff of NAB will get wages in line with the salary, benefits, and privileges available to government workers in other occupational categories.
Additionally, according to sources, the NAB chairman would no longer have the authority to make decisions about the bureau’s financial and administrative matters. Currently, the chairman doubles as the organization’s president and chief financial officer.
It is important to note that NAB officers’ pay and special perks differ from those of other officials and employees in other occupational civil service groups. Additionally, the government has already selected police group members for different import seats inside the NAB.
