On Sunday night, just before Eid ul Fitr, the newly elected federal government raised petrol prices by Rs. 9.66 per litre for the next fortnight.
Notification
According to a notification from the Finance Division, the new price for petrol is Rs. 289.41 per litre, up from Rs. 279.75 previously. The price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has dropped by Rs. 3.32 to Rs. 285.56 per litre.
According to a statement released by the Ministry of Finance, the price of petrol (motor petrol) has risen in the international market over the last two weeks, while the price of HSD has fallen slightly.
According to the statement, the above price changes are consistent with the government’s policy of passing on price variations in the international market to the domestic market.
The consumer price of HSD has been reduced once more, following a downward revision in the middle of March 2024.
At the last review of petroleum prices (on March 15, 2024), the federal government kept the price of petrol unchanged. However, the price of high-speed diesel has dropped by Rs. 1.77 to Rs. 285.56 per litre.
