The GITEX (“Gulf Information Technology Exhibition”) is an annual consumer computer and electronics trade fair, exhibition, and conference held in the Dubai World Trade Centre in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Its presentations across the Middle East have drawn large crowds, most notably in 2009 when Microsoft unveiled Windows 7 to a crowd of 150,019 people. This year, GITEX 2021 Technology event week will be one of the biggest innovation weeks.
ICT merchants and suppliers such as Gateway Group, 50 Cent, Etisalat, RedHat, and Dell attend the GITEX Shopper & Consumer Electronics Expo. IT experts, technology enthusiasts, students, and consumers, as well as regional traders, are among the consumer participants.
The show began in 1981 as GITE and was held in the Dubai World Trade Centre’s Hall One. GITEX (the X had been added by this point) grew to two halls of the exhibition facility with the introduction of MacWorld at the 1988 event. It has now occupied the whole DWTC complex, which consists of ten exhibition halls with a total show space of one million square feet, for several years.
GITEX Shopper 2009 attracted 150,019 visitors from 121 countries. 60% of the participants came from the Middle East, 19% from Africa, 13% from the Americas, 4% from East and South Asia, and 4% from Europe at the 2012 event. In comparison to 2011, there was a 24 percent rise from Africa.
GITEX Global has been the indisputable technology event for the last 40 years, with AI, 5G, Cloud, BigData, Cybersecurity, Blockchain, Quantum Computing, Experiential Marketing, Fintech, and thought-provoking conferences.
GITEX 2021 Technology Week, the largest regional IT show, will play a bigger role. The UAE Cyber Security Council is proud to host the first-ever GITEX Cyber security Conference at GITEX Global 2021, which will focus on the most pressing cyber security issues currently confronting governments and businesses as the world works to recover from the effects of the pandemic and the resulting global rise in cyber-attacks.
