Tom Lammonby has been named as Romario Shepherd’s successor for Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League’s seventh edition. Due to national obligations, the bowling all-rounder is unable to join the franchise.
Because Romario Shepherd will be unavailable for the whole PSL season, the league’s Technical Committee has given Karachi Kings permission to name his full replacement.
Tom Lammonby, the Kings’ newest addition, is a significant player for Somerset County Cricket Club. So far, the English all-rounder has played 39 T20 matches, accumulating 488 runs and a best score of 90. In addition, he has 11 wickets to his credit.
“Kings have brought in Tom Lammonby of English County Somerset in place of West Indies’ Romario Shepherd who will be busy on national duty during this time period,” an official said.
Lammonby is expected to go to Karachi soon, as the host team prepares for the first match of the season on January 27 at Karachi’s National Stadium against the defending champions, Multan Sultans.
The English cricketer, who is 21 years old, has previously played alongside Karachi’s skipper, Babar Azam, in the T20 Blast in 2020 for Somerset. The two cricketers will now play for the Karachi Kings, which will be led by Babar Azam.
In PSL 5, the famous franchise defeated Lahore Qalandars to win its first title in 2020. Kings will look to repeat their success in order to win their second PSL title.
